Monday 20th February – walk ***** Circuit of Holywells Park in Ipswich – sunny and mild.

Considering poor old Mags recent accident which has left her with a broken arm and several stitches in her face and a broken bridge in her mouth we have had a great day. With a dentist shortage here in Felixstowe we headed over to the Dentist just outside Felixstowe before they opened in hope of being seen and a very nice dental nurse booked her in for 3.20 in the afternoon, result:) We even had time to do some shopping at Lidl before driving over to Ipswich Hospital for an appointment at 9.30 at the fracture clinic, we could not believe the number of people with something broken but we were out in an hour with Mags arm OK, she needs the cast changed next week. This then gave us loads of time to heads to our favourite Holywells Park for another fantastic walk in amazing weather, very mild with wall to wall sunshine. We followed the small stream with the usual moorhens and coots with singing robins and noisy magpies leading to the big pond with gulls and a solitary egret, turning right towards the stables we make a muntjac deer jump and it quickly disappears into the woods! After a toilet stop we continue to do a circuit of the beautiful park with the most amazing trees set against a deep blue sky:) We make it down to our bench by the small pond for a cuppa and some of Georgia’s lovely homemade cake, she is one of the children we child minded from a tiny baby who is now 21, wow we are so old!!! We were entertained here by geese, gulls, coots, a dunnock, pigeons and two pairs of mandarin ducks! There were several children about and we spoke to a lovely mother from Martlesham with her son a keen photographer who had a Baker day. Well rested we head back, the egret was still on its stick island, so I took a photo and we spotted the blue flash of a kingfisher behind it, sadly it was too far away for a decent pic and you can just seeoute through Levington spotting 30 deer too for s cuppa with Mag having a doze, she was knackered as she is not sleeping very well:( We then head to the new dentist who was excellent, he managed to cup the broken metal from the back of Mags bridge with made her feel much better, looks like no serious damage done to Mags teeth so that’s good news. Mag has loads of appointments to look forward to with more visits to the fracture and face clinic plus another to the dentist, but hopefully the slow healing process has started. Mag then instructed me in the arts of her omelette making and delicious it was to, it was the most Mag has eaten since the accident!

PS - then some more good news when I discovered my pic was on the cover of the Spotlight on Felixstowe magazine for the 3rd month in a row:)
